Welcome!

Around Chesham by Lalage Smyth, member of the Photography and Digital Imaging Groups

Welcome to the website of Chess Valley u3a

Operating in and around Chesham in Buckinghamshire, we offer a wide range of activities for those in their ‘third age’, when they are no longer working full time and are able to pursue other interests.

Our members take part in activities ranging from Art to Wildlife, with books, dinghy sailing, French, history and a lot more in between.

Our next monthly talk is on Thursday 14th November, starting at 2pm when Ann Fletcher presents From the Mill to Monte Carlo. This is the story of Joseph Hobson Jagger, a Yorkshire textile worker who had laboured in the Victorian mills of Bradford but was not quite what might be expected. He was the only person known to have devised an infallible and completely legal system to defeat the odds at roulette and win a fortune. Find out what happened to his millions and he should now be regarded as the real 'man who broke the bank at Monte Carlo'.

The venue for this meeting is the Broadway Baptist Church in Chesham Broadway, which is wheelchair-accessible and equipped with a hearing loop.

If you are not currently a member of Chess Valley u3a and would like to sample a monthly talk and learn more about us, please come along and you will receive a warm welcome.

Best wishes

James
