These are held on alternate months to the rural WALKS INTO HISTORY, being under the same 'umbrella' but taking place in the built environment. The joint convenors are Angela Shipley and Liam Dineen firstname.lastname@example.org Walks are organised through LONDON WALKS www.walks.com .
Walks generally last for two hours and are led by an experienced guide. We meet at designated Tube stations, making our own way there for, usually 11.15am, where we meet our blue badge guides.
There are vacancies on the London Walks Group's October 11th walk with a theme of Street Art. Our walk starts at Liverpool Street station, meeting at 11.15am and will be guided by a Blue badge Guide at the individual cost of £7. We travel independently.
You are promised -
People say graffiti is ugly, irresponsible and childish... but that's only if it's done properly" – Banksy. There's no other London Walk like this one. It's intense on the senses. It's a corkscrew of a route that pops cork after cork of east London's vibrant, heady, dynamic street art scene. It gets up close and personal with Banksy and Ben Eine and Shepherd Fairey and Invader and Co. It decodes them. Like a great jazz musician it improvs (because this outdoor gallery – aka Shoreditch and Spitalfields – gets "rehung"* every few months). It ends at a street artist's studio and gallery. Six months is the average life span of street art in east London. So the walk – true to the scene – changes all the time. Makes for a unique buzz. Okay, Banksy, here we come.
If you would like to join us we would be delighted to hear from you, email Angela on email@example.com and I will send you further details
